Ai - Lets not forget the dignity of work and relationships

Ai - Lets not forget the dignity of work and relationships

Ai is moving into everyone’s lives, like, don’t like it, crave it…its coming in some fashion, and in many cases is already here.  In some areas I see enormous benefit, and in others I see enormous risk.

Currently, for me, Ai as a trusty sidekick ...    in some cases.  I use Ai as sort of a publisher/editor to soften my tone, add grammatical clarity, or to convey messages more subtly.  Those that know me know I can be pretty blunt.  So far this use case of Ai has enhanced my leadership skills and life.

Search so far on Ai however… its 50/50, and when it is wrong, it is really wrong, and yet still “speaks” with an authority that is misleading because it sounds intelligent.  On an interesting note, my son, 16, very technologically astute, has a bigger mis trust of Ai than I do.

I heard someone else say that if you can work remote, 100% online, or in a closet with a laptop, AI might replace your job.  So, if that is true, many believe that AI will replace the entry level of the desk work force, while others think that if there is no physical interaction then all other jobs will deplete.  Kayla Scanlon has a pretty interesting thought scaffolding for how this could unfold, a good over view of it is in this reel: https://www.tiktok.com/@kylascan/video/7509269717631143199

It says (with my examples)

  1. Workflow capture - Biological API, if a task is repeatable Ai will replace it.

  2. Cognitive Offloading - Bottom Rung of the career ladder collapses

  3. Institutional Unbuilding - Crushing science funding, USAID, etc

  4. Platform Power - Buy what you need or buy access- computational governance, we all become middle schoolers again.

What is something that Ai cannot replace?  Relationships, and faith.  I think that those 2 things will create a renaissance in human spirit in that will guide, and at times correct the AI assimilation into society.  So in taking some of Kayla’s thinking and adding my own thoughts:

  1. Workflow Capture

  2. Cognitive Offloading

  3. Societal Fabric Tightens - People value truth and relationships more

  4. Religious Refocus - Part of Societal fabric tightening will lead to a craving of community that looks out for society and humanity, not just the individual.

  5. Institutional Unbuilding occurs in organizations that favor the individual over the group.

  6. Democracy rebuild - Democracy will look, most likely a multi party system in the USA.

I’d love to have some good think’s on this if anyone is interested DM!

As always, thanks for the read.
